Washington DC 2011My best friend and I have this tradition of giving each other plants. It stems (get it? stems?) from a mutual fascination with the cultural significance of a man giving a woman a bouquet of flowers. They're completely meaningless and gone after a week, yet can somehow fix arguments and get men laid. It's something I will never understand. We prefer plants. They cost about the same and last for years. So whenever I need to get Maggie a thank you gift or a house warming present, I send a kick ass plant.
