via fashioninfilmsA lot of people hear the word "musical" and cringe. Let alone the words "french musical". That being said, never has a movie done more for me creatively then Jaques Demy's Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (The Umbrellas of Cherbourg). The cinematography? Stunning. The fashion? Stunning. The story? Heartbreakingly tragic. I'd even go so far as to say that 90% of my photographic and stylistic inspirations come from this film. I mean, when the movie stills are as gorgeous as the ones above, just imagine what the actual film is like! Swoon
