Eeeeagle!

Pine Point, Lake Umbagog
Wentworth Location, Maine
June 2011

Lake Umbagog is one of the few places you can see a bald eagle in the wild.  I grew up seeing them every weekend, not knowing how rare and endangered they are.  Recently there was a 5 year span where we didn't see a single eagle.  Thankfully that ended last year, when this guy made his nest at Pine Point.

Pine Point is out of a dream.  My Grampy Howard owned it for many years, but sadly sold it before my dad took an interest in the area.  Grampy bought it from Louise Dickinson Rich (they were "a thing" back in the day).  In Louise's book Happy the Land there are several photographs of Pine Point.

Louise Dickinson Rich was heavily influenced by the Umbagog area.  So much so that this map is in the front of all of her books.
