Two Filmmakers look to adapt Fendler's "Lost on a Mountain in Maine"

A photo of mine is running in the Bangor Daily News!  Last weekend I attended the Maine International Film Festival in Waterville, Maine with my friend (since the age of 3) Derek Desmond.  For the past few years Derek and his co-producer Ryan Cook have been trying to get the film rights to Donn Fendler's classic book Lost on a Mountain in Maine.   For those of you unfamiliar with the story, at 12 years old Donn was lost on Mt Katahdin for 9 days.  He survived with no food or water and had only the clothes on his back (his shoes fell apart after the first day).  Hundreds of people searched the mountain, but Donn was no where to be found and assumed dead.  Being a good boyscout, Donn found a small stream and knew that if he followed it down the mountain it would lead him to civilization.  It's estimated that he walked over 70 miles to find help.  Derek and Ryan kept a video journal of their journey to get the rights and made a documentary about it, interwoven with Donn's incredible tale of survival.  The movie was fantastic and a great first step in the making of the feature film.

Over the next few weeks I'll have lots more photos of the festival to share!  For more information about the film adaption of Lost on a Mountain in Maine please visit their website!
