Goodnight Irene
Kodak 400VC film
Naples, Maine
August 2011
Well that sucked. Convinced that Beverly was going to get hit hard by Hurricane Irene, my dad had me meet him in Maine to weather the storm. Beverly ended up being fine, while we lost power for two days. Actually, last I checked (Thursday) there still wasn't any power up there. Luckily my dad came prepared and was able to make us food with Bunsen burners.
The third picture is of Brandy Pond towards the end of the storm. This was fairly calm compared to what it had been like a few hours earlier. The wind was so bad we lost several trees, including one at the beginning of our street so no one could get in or out for at least a day.
It could have been a lot worse though, so I'm just thankful we got through it in one piece!
The Helping Hand
Kodak 400 VC filmNaples Maine, April 2011
This painting used to hang in my childhood home, so I've pretty much spent my entire life looking at it. It's always reminded me of my Grampy and I.
Here is Grampy with his logging crew on the state line in 1928. He's on the right (click for a bigger image. It's worth it I promise)
