For this week's installment of Studio/Lab, Anya and I went to the Trope Tank, a lab for research, teaching, and creative production, working to develop new poetic practices and new understandings of digital media by focusing on the material, formal, and historical aspects of computation and language.

Studio/Lab at MIT

Edwina Portocarrero's studio/ MIT Media Lab's Fabrication Lab

For my day job, my coworker Anya and I have been going to all the interesting spaces of making and doing around MIT's campus for a new web series called Studio/Lab.  Our inspiration was this quote from RISD president (and MIT Alum) John Maeda:

“We know that the scientist’s laboratory and the artist’s studio are two of the last places reserved for open-ended inquiry, for failure to be a welcome part of the process, for learning to occur by a continuous feedback loop between thinking and doing.”

Here's a look peek into the Fabrication Lab of the Media Lab.  Doctoral Student Edwina Portocarrero was an excellent tour guide and we were amazed by everything we saw.
